FAQs

What are an eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are a semi-permanent application used to enhance the length, curliness, fullness, and thickness of natural eyelashes. The extensions are made from various synthetic material that can be clarified as silk, faux mink or premium mink depending on the texture and the look of it.

The method of applying the eyelash extensions is by using a cyanoacrylate adhesive to apply single or multiple lightweight extensions to a single isolated natural lash. It is 0.05mm-1mm away from the eyelid but not touching the skin to prevent any irritation.

How are eyelash extensions applied?

Eyelash extensions are applied using a professional lash adhesive to a single natural lash. A small 0.05 mm gap is left from the end of the extension to the eyelid to prevent irritation. Depending on what style you choose, between 1-10 lightweight extensions can be applied to each natural lash. The process can take anywhere between 1-2.5 hrs depending on how full you’d like your lashes to look.

How long do eyelash extensions last?

Usually, eyelash extensions will last between 5-6 weeks. If you’d like to maintain the fullness, it’s recommended to get an infill every 2-4 weeks.

How long your extensions last depends on many factors such as how well you care for them, the products you use on the eye area and your lash shedding cycle.

Aftercare is very important to maintain the look and extend the longevity of the extensions. The skin products you use on your face plays a big part as to whether your extensions will last long. Anything oil-based is not good for the extensions.

Everyone has different lash growth cycle. Over time we’ll be able to determine your lash growth cycle. It’s usually every 5-6 weeks or so. The natural lashes grow and fall just like your hair. When your lashes fall out, they will take the extensions with them. You’ll lose many lashes every cycle, this is normal. For healthy people, you’ll lose about 3-4 lashes per day. That’s about 21-28 per week. That’s why we recommend to get an infill between 2-4 weeks to maintain the fullness.

What do you recommend for me to do before my eyelash extensions appointment?

Very good question!

What you do before your lash appointment has an impact on the retention of the set. We always recommend our clients to do a few things before the appointment:

  • Not wear any makeup or mascara
  • Avoid using any oil-based products like moisturiser, eye cream, face lotion or any eye makeup remover 24 hours before you attend the appointment
  • Avoid taking anti histamine 24 hours before your appointment
  • Let us know if you recently just had fillers or botox done
  • Avoid drinking a lot of fluid before your treatment to minimise interruptions to the treatment (coffee often makes people restless and want to go to toilet!)

What are the types of eyelash extensions you use and what is the difference between them?

This is a very common question we get asked. Being in the lash industry and having used these materials for many years, we’re very familiar with the features of each material and why you might choose one over the other. All of our lashes are vegan and cruelty-free!

We use Silk, Faux mink, Flat Lashes and Premium Faux Mink to do our eyelash extensions sets. Which type we use depends on your preference and the condition of your natural lashes. Each fibre has unique look and feel. You don’t have to worry about choosing which material prior to your appointment, our lash technician will assess your lashes and recommend a material for you.

Silk eyelash extensions: A synthetic fibre with a shinny/natural black finish, soft to touch and slightly finer. Silk is available for all classic and volume lash sets.

Faux-Mink eyelash extensions: We love animals so we’re against animal cruelty, which is why we don’t support and will never use real mink fur for our eyelash extensions. Real mink will not hold its curl once it’s wet and is prone to allergic reactions. Imagine having animal hairs on your eyes, no thanks! We use Faux-Mink synthetic fibres designed to replicate real mink fur. They are matte black in colour and soft to touch.

Flat eyelash extensions: Flat lashes get their name because the cross section of the extension is flatter or more oval in shape than traditional eyelash extensions. They still come in all the different curl options as other lash types. The flatter shape allows them to give a more thicker, fuller look without any extra weight because each fibre appears wider but doesn’t weigh more than a regular extension.

Premium Faux Mink eyelash extensions: This premium fibre is our newest range and is exclusive to Blink Lashes. It has a matte finish and is super soft like velvet. The shaft of the extension has a micro hollow section which can absorb the adhesive without looking clumpy when we apply them. Because the fibre absorbs the adhesive better, the retention is generally longer than other lash types.

How do you recommend to remove my eye makeup when I have eyelash extensions on?

You must use an oil-free, eyelash foam cleanser.

Oil-based products will break the bond between the extensions and the natural lashes causing the extensions to fall out.

We recommend FRESH LASH Eyelash Foam Cleanser that’s safe and specifically made to use for eyelash extensions. We have them in stock so just ask us for more info.

I saw my natural lashes fall out with the eyelash extensions, is this normal?

Some people don’t actually realise this, but every day, we lose anywhere from 1-5 natural lashes. Much like the hairs on our head, they replace themselves as new ones grow! Usually twice a year, particularly end of Summer and beginning of Spring you will notice that you lose more natural lashes than normal, this is called “seasonal shedding”. When it happens, you’ll normally find that your lashes seem to be falling out more quickly than normal and that a lot of new baby lashes have come through. Don’t be too concerned, it happens to everyone. If you are worried, get in touch with us so we can assess the health of your lashes anytime.

Can I swim if I have eyelash extensions?

Yes of course. That’s the good thing about having eyelash extensions on. You will look pretty all the time – when you wake up, straight out of the shower, working out and even in the pool (without worrying about having ‘panda eyes’). Just don’t rub them and remember to pat them dry gently after get them wet. Try to avoid swimming within the first 24 hours of getting them done!

Can I put make up on after getting eyelash extensions?

Absolutely – as long as the products you use are oil-free and very low in glycol/glycerin. These ingredients will melt the glue, loosening the lash bond and causing extensions to fall out.

We recommend:

Powder-type eyeshadows are fine – check the ingredients list of liquid/stick eyeshadow for glycol and glycerin, as sometimes these products are snuck in!

Liquid/pen liner (oil-free, of course) – gel liner tends to stick in the roots of the lashes and is tough to remove.

Avoid using mascara if possible – this product causes the extensions to clump together, and often contains oils to weaken the glue bond on your lashes. Especially waterproof mascara!

Please Note: Mascara will make the volume fans snap shut. This means your lashes will look clumpy and stick together. We will not be able to infill volume lashes that have had mascara applied to them.

If you are putting make up on everyday, make sure to clean your face properly especially around the eye area. If not, your eyes to get irritated regardless of whether you have eyelash extensions on or not.

How much do eyelash extensions cost?

It depends on the look and set you want.

Lite Set consists of around 40-50 lashes/eyes and is $100

Glam Classic is approximately 80-120 lashes/eye and is $150

Naughty Classic is $150

Flirty Classic (exclusive to Blink Lashes) is $170

Naughty Volume (1st place International award-winning set) is $190

Star Volume (3D-5D, we create our own hand made fans) is $190

Dream Mega Volume is $270

Make sure to check our eyelash extensions page for the look of each set.

Please note: The prices between Bowral and Wetherill Park are a bit different due to varying overhead costs.

Do you have L or M curl eyelash extensions?

Yes, we do. Our own exclusive eyelash extensions comprise of a huge range of different lash types so you can customise your lashes.

What is a Lite Classic set?

A Lite Classic set is a half Glam Classic set, it’s a good starter set if you’re new to eyelash extensions. We’ll apply one extension on each natural lash, with a total of about 40-50 lashes per eye. The Lite set will allow you to get used to eyelash extensions to see how you feel and look with them on. You can always increase the number of lashes if you want something more fuller. Silk, faux mink and flat lashes are available for you to choose for this Lite set.

I’ve never had eyelash extensions before, what set do you recommend?

If this is your first time to do eyelash extensions, we recommend to go for either the Lite Classic or Glam Classic. These two sets will enhance your lashes without being too full on. They’ll allow you to have a feel for what it’s like and get used to having them on.

Will eyelash extensions damage my natural lashes?

No, as long as they are applied properly by lash professionals.

Don’t worry, we’ll take good care of your natural lashes. We make sure that all the extensions are applied correctly using the right thickness, curl and length that is suitable for your natural lashes. This will allow your lashes to grow through it’s normal lash cycle.

Before starting, we’ll give you advice on the length, thickness and curl that is best for you and your natural lashes. We strongly advise to follow this advice because not doing so could result in a complication. For example, your natural lashes may be too thin or weak to support extra long and thick lashes. We always do our best to make you happy so we’re open to discussing other ways to get the look/style that you’d like.

Are eyelash extensions safe for pregnant ladies?

Very good question! Eyelash extensions are a safe, non-invasive cosmetic treatment which is suitable for any women, even pregnant women.

At Blink Lashes, we use the best quality products that are designed specially for eyelash extensions and to be use around the eye area.

We apply the extensions close to the eyelid but not touching the skin, so reactions to the glue is very rare.

In saying that, if you are pregnant and have never had eyelash extensions before or have never been to Blink Lashes and used our products, we strongly recommend a patch test before your treatment. This patch test must be completed at least 48 hours prior to the booking.

A patch test will allow us to try the products used for the treatment on you and for you to see if the treatment will be comfortable for you or not. The treatment is required for you to lay down still for a while and this can be a little trial for you to see what it’s like lying in that position for a short time, so that you can gauge how well your body will respond to a prolonged appointment. This is highly suggested to all heavily pregnant ladies.

If you are unlucky enough to react to the glue or the products used, your doctor might not let you go ahead with the treatment due to your pregnancy. That’s why a proper consultation and a patch test is highly recommended before proceeding the treatment.

Please note: if we have been doing your lashes here at Blink Lashes and you become pregnant, there’s no problem continuing with the extensions. Just let us know so that we can make sure you are comfortable at all times! You’d already be familiar with all of our products and glue, so reactions are far less likely to happen.

Can I be allergic to eyelash extension adhesive?

Like all cosmetic products, It’s always a chance for anyone to react to this particular lash adhesive. But it is very rare. And when it happens it usually go away after you removing the extensions.

If you experienced an allergic reaction to any eyelash extensions before (eg, red puffy swollen eyelids), we can’t guarantee that the reaction might not happen again. Sometime the condition might get worse if it happened again.

Let us know of your previous experience with the eyelash extensions!

If you have an allergic reaction, we suggest to you to seek GP prior to making the appointment to remove the extensions. From our experience some GP might recommend not to remove the extensions straight away as it might make the condition worse or causing more irritation.

If you have had an allergic reaction from another salon and wish to have your lashes removed, we can only make an appointment if we have a doctor’s certificate recommending immediate removal. In all other cases, it would be best to contact the salon that you originally booked at.

Any concern or not sure if you will have any allergic reaction?

We always start with a proper consultation and a patch test before your initial appointment if you’d like.

I have had the eyelash extensions from somewhere else , can you do an infill?

We always welcome clients wearing extensions from elsewhere and are happy to work in with other good quality lashes, Most of the time we are unable to infill lashes done elsewhere, due to issues of quality – primarily extensions being stuck together, excess glue and cluster lashes or heavy pre-made fans being advertised as volume, which sadly many places still do.

However, if you are wearing good quality extensions (all properly separated from one another, no clumps or long twisted lashes) that you would like infilled, feel free to pop in and we can check your lashes to see if this is possible, or send us a clear, picture of your lashes and we’ll see if we’re able to. Often we can!

I have very straight lashes, will the eyelash extensions work on me?

Yes definitely! Whether you naturally have straight lashes or extremely curly lashes, we’ll customise the eyelash extensions to suit you. We have many types, curls, lengths and thicknesses for our extensions that we can use to personalise the lashes to how you like it to look.

Do I need to book an appointment in advance?

Yes, please. To prevent disappointment, all treatments must be booked in advance. We operate on an appointment-only basis due to high demand. To make an appointment you can:

  • Use the online booking system here
  • Call or SMS 0459 546 556
  • Email hello@blinklashesaustralia.com.au

Does getting eyelash extensions hurt?

Not at all. As long as they are applied properly with trained lash professionals, it’s a relaxing and painless process.

Eyelash extensions are applied on the natural lashes with medical-grade adhesive, close to the eyelid but not touching the skin. This is to prevent any irritation.

If this is your first time to eyelash extensions, we know that you might be feeling a bit nervous. Don’t worry, after the first time you’ll get used to the process and then you’ll probably get so relaxed you’ll fall asleep! (happens a lot!)

When do you recommend to come back for an infill?

We recommend to come back for an infill 2-3 weeks after your initial appointment. During this time, some of your natural lashes will have shed. You’ll start noticing some gaps where the old ones have fallen out. Don’t worry when they fall out, the new baby lashes will come through. It’s a good time to get an infill so your lashes are always looking fresh and full. Once the baby lashes are strong enough we’ll apply the extensions on them too.

Will the eyelash extensions irritate my eyes?

No they won’t. After the eyelash extensions are applied on your natural lashes, they will feel just like your own lashes. Not any part of the extensions will even touch your skin. Of course if you are rough with them and keep rubbling your eyes then the extensions are likely to twist and feel a bit awkward on your eyes.

Do eyelash extensions suit men?

Absolutely.  They’re becoming more and more popular for men. Some are wanting a completely undetectable look that just brightens up their eyes a bit whilst others wear them loud and proud. Anyone can enjoy eyelash extensions to enhance their eyes. We customise the eyelash extensions to suit your face and personality, and can do a very subtle set for any men wishing to try out eyelash extensions. Don’t be surprised if you can’t live without them after!

I heard that eyelash extensions will damage my natural lashes, is this true?

Absolutely not. As with all beauty treatments, if it’s done correctly nothing will get damaged. As long as the eyelash extensions are applied correctly by trained lash professionals, the eyelash extensions won’t damage your natural lashes.

I have very blonde lashes, will eyelash extensions look good on me?

It will definitely look amazing on blonde lashes. The impact of the eyelash extensions is going to be even greater if you naturally have blonde lashes. The eyelash extensions are dark, very fine and can blend well. If you have extremely light coloured lashes then we can always tint your lashes first before applying the extensions.

I got eyelash extensions done somewhere else and want to get an infill, can you do it?

When it comes to infilling lashes that were done elsewhere, we’re very careful. This is for two reasons. Firstly to make sure that you’re happy with the lashes you get with us and secondly, to maintain our standard of quality. We suggest you book a free consultation with us. After assessing the extensions you have on, we’ll be able to let you know if we can infill them or not. If we can’t infill them due to their condition, we’ll remove them for free so you can have a fresh set of lashes. If we can infill them then happy days!

Why are the prices different between Wetherill Park and Bowral?

This is simply because of the different overheads between the two locations. The overheads at Wetherill Park are lower so we pass the benefit on to the clients.

How do I take care of my eyelash extensions so they last as long as possible?

There are a few simple steps you can take to make sure you get the most out of your eyelash extensions. At your appointment, we’ll give you an Aftercare Card outlining how to take care of them, the main things to remember are:

  • Avoid wetting or dampening your lashes within the first 24 hours because the adhesive is still in its curing period. Try to avoid hot steamy showers, baths, the spa, steam room, heavy gym sessions, rain, facials, and swimming.
  • After 24 hours you can get them wet! Just remember to dry them gently.
  • Use only oil-free cosmetic products (especially makeup remover)
  • Avoid rubbing or pulling at your lashes. The more you touch them with your fingers, the more oil and dirt you introduce to the area. They like to be left alone!
  • Brush them gently morning and night with a lash wand (we’ll give you one for free)
  • Don’t use any lash curler as concentrated heat will burn them
  • Don’t put any mascara on your eyelash extensions
  • The key is to keep them “clean”. It’s best practice to wash them with a cleanser. We recommend FRESH LASH Eyelash Foam cleanser (we stock them in our salon)
  • Avoid facial treatments within the first 24 hours after your appointment. If you are getting a facial treatment, we suggest to let your beautician know that you just had eyelash extensions. Lashes don’t go well with steam and facial massage oil. They should be able to make minor adjustments to protect your lashes and still give you your favorite facial treatment.

How do I look after my eyelash extensions?

We recommend to avoid water for the first 24 hours. This is because the adhesive hasn’t completely cured yet, so the bond between the extensions and natural lash is still weak. After 24 hours you can wash your face like normal. The key is to keep them clean. We recommend to clean your lashes with FRESH LASH Eyelash Foam Cleanser once a day or every two days (we stock them at our salons).

The eyelash extensions are fragile, so be sure to be gentle with them when you brush or wash them. Don’t rub or pick your eyelashes. Don’t put mascara on your lash extensions (mascara will make them clumpy and ruin the look of it). Avoid using saunas, stream rooms or swimming for the first 48 hours.

I’m getting martied, when do you recommend to get the eyelash extensions done?

Firstly, congratulations on getting married! It’s best to get used to the look and feel of them so we recommend to get them done a few weeks before, then get an infill closer to the wedding day. This is because:

  • You can have more time to find the lash style and look you like
  • It will avoid any surprise allergic reactions on your wedding day

We offer Wedding and Engagement discounts for small groups so you can put the saving towards your special day! Just contact us to find out more…

Can I get a spray tan if I have eyelash extensions?

Yes, of course. If you can, get the extensions done before the spray tan.

After I get eyelash extensions, can I get my lashes wet?

Yes you can, but not within the first 24 hours. This allows time for the adhesive to completely dry. You can have a shower or wash your face on the first day, just try to avoid getting your eyes wet. Sometimes the impact from the shower water can make them fall out because the adhesive hasn’t fully dried yet. After 24 hours you can get them wet, just remember to pat them dry gently.

What types of lashes do you use? Are they good quality?

We weren’t able to find eyelash extensions on the market that met our standards, so we created our own! We only use our exclusively made lashes which come in different lengths, thicknesses, curls and fibre types. We offer silk, faux mink, flat lashes and premium faux mink.

  • Silk is free
  • Flat lashes +$5
  • Faux mink +$10
  • Premium Faux mink +20

Is the adhesive you use going to irritate my eyes?

No, very unlikely. We use approved medical grade adhesive that is long-lasting, fume-free, and made specifically to use around the eyes. All products we use have passed our rigorous testing before we even think about using them for our clients. Safety and high standards are things we never compromise on.

Can anyone wear eyelash extensions?

Absolutely! Anyone can wear eyelash extensions. They’ll instantly enhance the look of your eyes and you’ll look like you have make up on even though you don’t. There a few conditions that may affect whether it’s suitable for you to get eyelash extensions or not though. You can see them here

Can I wear glasses or contact lenses with my eyelash extensions?

Yes definitely! Having eyelash extensions on isn’t going to impact your vision in any way so wearing contact lenses or glasses with them is fine.

Before your appointment, we recommend to remove contact lenses (especially the hard type) because you’ll be laying down with your eyes closed for a while. If you wear contact lenses while getting the eyelash extensions you might experience dryness or redness in the eyes. It might make you feel uncomfortable and prevent you from closing your eyes properly.

Will I look like a drag queen with my eyelash extensions?

Not at all (unless you really want to!)

Eyelash extensions don’t have to look over the top. They can look natural if that’s what you prefer. Eyelash extensions come in different curls, thicknesses, lengths and material types. We’ll custom design the lash set to suit your needs and facial features. You can choose any look you like, for example, natural-looking, a bit more glam for a more dramatic effect or extremely full.

If I don’t like my eyelash extensions can you remove them?

Yes, we can. Within the first 7 days if you decide that they aren’t for you, we’ll remove them for free. From our experience, this is not the case. You can check out our work especially before and after to see how stunning they look on our clients.

What are Classic lashes, Russian Volume lashes and Mega Volume lashes?

Classic lashes are a method where 1 lash extension is glued to 1 natural lash. This method is also known as 1 to 1 or 1:1. Classic lashes are perfect for clients who already have a lot of lashes, but want to add more length. Classic lashes look more natural.

Volume lashes is a method where multiple lashes are applied to one single natural eyelash individually, using very thin and lightweight lashes. If two eyelash extensions are applied to one natural lash it’s described as 2D, if three eyelash extensions are applied to one natural eyelash then it’s described as 3D etc.

This method is also known as “Russian volume” because it originated in Russia. The eyelash extensions used in this method are significantly thinner than the extensions used for the classic lash method.

Volume lashes are lighter, fluffier and will give you a fuller look. They’re perfect for clients who don’t have a lot of lashes, have gaps or just want a more dramatic look.

Mega Volume lashes uses “Ultra fine extensions” (thinner lashes than Volume lashes). This means we can add more volume as there is less weight. We create “Bouquets” with the extensions and apply them on to one isolated natural lash using the advance volume techniques. Mega Volume lashes give you really dramatic look which is especially good for special events like weddings/engagements and parties.

Can I get eyelash extensions done after a lash lift?

We recommend to wait at least 6-8 weeks so that your lashes are nearly back to normal. This means it’ll be smooth enough for us to apply the extensions on with a better bond so that your lashes last longer.

What’s the difference between an eyelash perm and a lash lift?

Lash Perm

The lash perm is best suited to women with long eyelashes or women with wide or open eyes.

This treatment makes the lashes semi-permanently curled for weeks. This is achieved by wrapping the lashes around a cylindrical rod and adding perming solutions to curl the lashes.

This creates beautiful lash curls but often the clients feel that their lashes appear short as this doesn’t lift the lash.

The Lash Lift

While perming the lash actually curls the lashes, the lash lift works differently by lifting the lashes up from the base.

Whereas both methods use the same chemical solutions to perm the lashes, the lash lift uses more of a curved fan shaped device, rather than a cylindrical rod.

The lift takes the same amount of time as a perm, but should last slightly longer. Your lashes will generally not be as curled with a lash lift compared to a lash perm.

Why aren’t my eyelash extensions lasting long?

There a quite a few things that can cause your extensions to fall off faster than usual. Here are some of the common ones:

  • Using oily facial products
  • Being too rough when cleansing
  • Naturally having oily skin
  • Using a lot of make up (especially eye makeup)
  • Active lifestyle
  • Medications
  • Hormonal changes

Please don’t think that it’s normal/good for lashes to last 8 weeks, it isn’t. If you’ve had lashes elsewhere, and haven’t lost many/any lashes by this point, it’s not a good sign. It means that your lashes are probably all clumped together and therefore unable to keep growing and fall out/replace themselves. They need to fall out gradually in order to grow and remain healthy! Normally it’ll be 2-3 weeks between infills, sometimes you might get away with 3-4 weeks.

(You can refer to our complete aftercare for tips on how to make your eyelash extensions last longer. If you are experiencing any issues in the first 3 days after your appointment, please contact us and we will do whatever we can do to assist you.)

Does eyelash tinting sting?

It usually doesn’t sting! On the very rare occasion, if someone has hypersensitive skin they might feel a slight tingling sensation when it’s washed off, but that’s it. It normally doesn’t hurt at all.

How long does an eyebrow tint last?

An eyebrow tint generally lasts between 2-4 weeks. If you spend a lot of time outdoors or go swimming often the colour will fade faster.

Do I need to take my contact lenses off before getting my eyelashes tinted?

Yes, it’s best to take them off before getting your lashes tinted. Leaving them on my cause your eyes to get dry or red because your eyes will be be closed for a while.

Can I get my lashes tinted before getting eyelash extensions?

Yes you can, no problem. We don’t use any oily products during the tinting process to ensure that the extensions will bond perfectly with your natural lashes. If you have very light/blonde coloured natural lashes, then we recommend getting your eyelashes tinted before adding the extensions. All you need to do is book for both services if you want to get them done on the same day.

Is lash tinting safe?

Yes, it is.  We highly recommend a patch test prior, particularly if you are sensitive to dyes or tints. If you have had a previous allergic reaction to dye or tint, we wouldn’t recommend doing it.

Can I get my eyebrows waxed on the same day I get eyelash extensions?

Yes absolutely. The two treatments aren’t going to impact each other in any way. It’s just going to make your eyes look extra beautiful! Just so you know, when you get both done on the same day, you’ll get a discount off the waxing.

What is the difference between a usual eyebrow tint and henna?

Eyebrow tint is a vegetable dye that’s activated by peroxide. Regular tint colours the eyebrow hairs, making them appear fuller and darker. It lasts roughly 2-4 weeks and is perfect for those wanting to build up colour for their existing eyebrow hair.

Henna is a plant based dye which is free of peroxide activators.

Henna tint not only colours the hair, but it also colours the skin. It penetrates the hair follicle differently, making the tint on the hair last longer than a regular tint. It lasts roughly 6-8 weeks as opposed to just 2-4 weeks with a regular eyebrow tint.

Henna tint is perfect if your brows have little to no hair as it builds fullness with colour on the skin. It’s also great if you want your tints to last longer!

Do you do eyebrow shaping/tinting for men?

Yes, of course. Whether you’re male or female we can shape and tint your eyebrows, no problem.

I have sensitive skin, will brow waxing be safe for me?

Absolutely. We adjust the method of waxing if you have sensitive skin. We’ll choose the wax based on your skin type and condition.

Keep in mind though, we won’t be able to do the treatment if you are taking any acne medications. Please contact us to discuss any alternative options for you.

What are hybrid lashes?

Hybrid Lashes use a combination of volume lash fans and single classic lashes where shorter and longer lengths are blended together. By combining them together it gives a more textured look. Volume only lash sets tend to feature a smooth line of lashes, whereas hybrid sets tend to give a ‘whispy’ lash look. Hybrid lashes are a great choice for those with weaker lashes looking for a fuller, textured look without committing to a volume set.

How long do eyelash extensions last?

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

What is the maximum lash length you have?

The maximum lash length we have is 15mm. However, these 15mm extensions aren’t suitable for everyone. It depends on the condition of your natural lashes. We’ll do a proper consultation to check if it is suitable for you.

(If you want something that is noticeable, you could always increase the curl instead of the length :))

How do you apply eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are applied individually ONE by ONE or multi lightweight lashes to your natural eyelashes approximately 0.5-1 mm from the eyelid using a bonding agent or what we called adhesive or lash glue. Therefore, neither the lash nor glue has contact with the skin. Only extensions are applied to one natural eyelash to avoid damaging lashes and to achieve the desired look.

What are the differences between Silk, Faux-mink and Premium Mink

Good Question!

Well They are different in terms of texture and the look.

Silk is glossy and shiny, soft to touch. The tip of the extensions is thin.

Faux-Mink is matte and looks more natural than silk. Very soft to touch.

Premium Mink is synthetic made extensions and they are very high quality, Matte, natural looking extensions, Black in color and Velvet like touch.

How experienced are your lash stylists or lash technicians?

The majority of our lash technicians have at least 3 years lashing experience.

When they apply for a job, we test their skill on a live model so we can see exactly how their lashing is. Once they get selected they need to complete ongoing one on one training with Mai, the founder, and head lash technician. This is to make sure our high standards are maintained.

How do you remove the eyelash extensions?

We remove the eyelash extensions using professional removal cream that is specially made to use for removing the eyelash extensions.

During the removal treatment, you lay down closing your eyes while we apply the cream solution to dissolve the glue. We leave the solution on about 5-10 mins depends on the amount of lashes that we need to remove. After that, we remove the cream and the extensions will slip off. We then clean and rinse your eyes.

I like something that is natural looking but still noticeable, what do you recommend?

We get that request all the time! 🙂

If you want something natural but noticeable, we have a few sets that you can try:

  • Glam Classic – The most popular classic lashes

How many lashes do you put on for Glam Classic?

We apply about 80-120 lashes/eye for Glam Classic. It’s a very popular set at our salons.

What are Flirty Classic lashes?

This is another signature set that was created using a technique invented by Mai the owner of Blink lashes. This set is an absolute game changer for anyone who loves the classic lash look, always wants more lashes, but doesn’t like fluffy volume lashes. This set has approximately 150-180 lashes/eye and silk, faux mink or premium faux mink are available for this set.

What are Glam Classic lashes?

Glam Classic is a popular set that uses the 1 On 1 method (1 extension on 1 natural lash). It will enhance your eyes by adding some length, curl and thickness but still look natural. This set has about 80-120 lashes/eye and you can choose to go with silk, faux mink or flat lashes. It’s good for everyday wear and if you work in a professional field.

What are Naughty Volume lashes?

Naughty Volume lashes are our signature style of lashes that give a ‘whispy’ fluffy look. This set is good for anyone who is looking for a unique style that is a bit more textured. It gives you a ‘whispy’ natural lash look, increasing the curl and the length. This set will give you a bit more texture than the Glam Classic set. You’ll have approximately 80-120 lashes/eye and you can choose from Silk, Faux mink and Flat lashes.

What are Russian Volume lashes?

The Russian Volume lash technique originated from Russia and is now popular worldwide. It involves applying 3-5 lightweight extensions in a fan shape onto each natural lash. The Russian volume technique creates an intensely voluminous lash set with a soft, fluffy look. Because the type of extensions used are so fine, they tend to last longer than normal standard classic eyelash extensions.

Volume lashes are really great for those with naturally fine or sparse lashes because you can have a much thicker look without the extra weight. Our highly skilled lash technicians/stylists hand-make all our volume fans during the application for better retention and a softer feeling.

Please be careful of misleading operators that use flare/cluster lashes advertised as ‘volume lashes’. Flare lashes are not individual eyelash extensions or volume lashes and are not meant to be applied using permanent glue. The results are usually disastrous and may damage your natural lashes.

What are Star Volume lashes?

Star Volume lashes are popular Russian volume lashes that use the lightweight fans (group of 3-5 eyelash extensions) that are applied on a single isolated natural lash. This Star Volume set will enhance your eyes by adding some length, curl, thickness and plenty of lashes on your eyes. This set has about 250-400 lashes/eye and you can choose to go with silk, faux mink or premium faux mink. It suits everyday wear, anyone who works in a professional field, special occasions and holidays.

Eyelash extensions are suitable for any eye size as they will help to open up the eyes and enhance the look of them.

During the consultation, we’ll show you what length, curl and thickness that suits you the most. The styling of the lashes will depend on the eye shape too. Some people might have small eyes with a wide eye shape or some have small eyes with upturned eyes. We’ll custom design the lashes to suit your face and eye features.

Can I get eyelash extensions after a lash lift?

You can, but not straight away. It’s best to wait 6-8 weeks after your lash lift. If the lift was only a slight curl, then you could possibly do it a bit sooner. This time is needed so the lashes will become smooth enough to allow a perfect bond between the extension and your natural lash. So being patient will help your eyelash extensions last longer!

How long does a lash lift last?

Lash lifts usually lasts between six to eight weeks. It also depends on how well you look after them and your lash growth cycle.

For the lash lift to last, you must keep your lashes dry for the first 24 hours after your appointment to ensure that the lashes maintain the lift as long as possible. After 24 hours, it’s best to avoid using any oily products around your eyes and brush your lashes upwards regularly.

I’m pregnant, can I get a lash lift done?

It isn’t recommended to get it done during the first trimester because it hasn’t been clinically tested and approved for this period. After the first trimester though, it’s absolutely fine. The solution has been tested and proven to be fine during the later stages of pregnancy.

Please Note: Pregnancy has also been known to affect the growth rate and texture of hair/eyelashes, so pregnant clients may experience less lift than usual.

What will the result of Lash Lift dramatic?

The result of a lash lift depends on the condition and length of your natural eyelashes. The purpose of Lash Lift treatment is to create a natural look, as we will be working with your natural lashes only (No glue exposure).

So if:

  • You have naturally straight, long lashes then the lash lift will produce more of a dramatic effect
  • Your lashes are on the shorter side, The result will be more toward a beautiful natural look.

If you’re looking for a more voluminous lash look, we’d recommend checking out our wide range of lash extensions.

I have very straight lashes, can I get a lash lift done?

Yes, you sure can. Lash lifts can be done regardless of the type of natural lashes you have. The aim of this treatment is to create a lift for your natural lashes so having straight lashes won’t have any impact at all. The result will just be a bit more noticeable if you have longer lashes compared to shorter lashes.

What is an Eyelash Perm?

An Eyelash Perm involves using a cylindrical rod and perming solution to semi-permanently curl the lashes to create beautiful curls that lasts for six to eight weeks.

What are the differences between Eyelash Perm and Lash Lift?

Eyelash Perms have been around since the 80’s but recently people call it Lash Lift.  Even though people use the word Lash Lift instead of Eyelash Perm, the result of an Eyelash Perm and Lash Lift are completely different.

With Eyelash Perms, your lashes will curl up, this is because we use a cylindrical rod and perming solution. With Lash Lift on the other hand, the lashes are lifted from the root. Silicone pads are used to achieve the lifting effect.

Eyelash Perms are great for long natural lashes while Lash Lifts are more suited to shorter lashes.

How long do Eyelash Perms lasts?

Usually, Eyelash Perms last about six to eight weeks. The time depends on how well you look after them and your lash growth cycle.

Will an Eyelash Perm ruin my lashes?

No, it won’t. The perming solution we use is specifically designed to use for eyelashes and it’s very gentle.

At Blink Lashes, we recommend booking in an Eyelash Perm every six to eight weeks to maintain a healthy, fabulous lash look.

Will Henna Brows be effective on white/grey hair?

Henna has a rich and strong pigment which great for grey/white hair. A standard tint may not colour grey/white hair as well as Henna. As the colour is deeper and darker, we recommend to do a Patch Test first to find the colour that suits you best.

Will Henna Brows work on cosmetic tattoos?

Yes, Henna Brows can enhance your eyebrow tattoo. Henna Brows are a semi permanent brow enhancement that will freshen up your brows without interfering with the pigments underneath the skin from the eyebrow tattoo. It will only colour the hair and the surface of the skin.

What are the benefits of Cosmetic Tattoos?

Some of the benefits of Cosmetic Tattoos include:

  • Saving money and time by not having to get your eyebrows continually shaped or tinted
  • Making your eyebrows look full even though you may have lost hair from aging or medical treatments
  • Saving time applying makeup every day
  • Eyebrows look good even during physical activity such as swimming or sports

What does the Cosmetic Tattooing process involve?

The cosmetic tattoo procedure involves using a small hand pen-style machine to deposit pigment into the skin. It repeatedly inserts small amounts of your chosen colour pigment in the required area. The pigment remains in the skin indefinitely although the colour may fade over time due to ageing of the tattoo, health or environmental factors. Eventually, retouching may be required. At Blink Lashes, we specialise in eyebrow tattoos (hair stroke and partial/gap-filling).

How long does the treatment take?

The entire process for Eyebrow tattoos usually takes about 1-2 hours. The longest part of the procedure is the initial consultation and the brow drawing process. The actual tattooing can be done within 45-60 minutes. We’ll always spend a lot of time to combine what your preferences with what suits your eye and face shape. We want you to be happy and comfortable with everything before any tattooing begins.

What is the difference between powder-fill/solid brow and hair-strokes or feathering for eyebrow tattoo?

Hair stroke involves cosmetic tattooing on tiny lines/strokes in a design that gives the appearance of hair. Hair-strokes alone, with no background, require more re-touching than other methods. Powder-fill gives a more defined, solid appearance, and usually lasts longer than hair strokes.

A good balance that will both last long and look natural is a combination of these. A lighter powder-fill will be done at the first appointment, then hair-strokes over the top, to give texture and a realistic, hair-like appearance. During your initial consultation, we can discuss these options and see which one you prefer best.

Does the cosmetic tattoo hurt?

It generally doesn’t hurt. It depends on the individual though. Some people don’t feel anything at all, some feel a little bit of discomfort for the first 5-10 mins.

You’ll need to purchase and apply some EMLA cream over the eyebrow area 1 hour prior to your treatment (we stock it in the salon to make it easier for you). This cream acts as an anesthetic and will help minimize any pain/discomfort during the procedure.

Is the cosmetic tattoo a safe procedure?

Absolutely! Our salon is clean, hygienic and compliant with all Department of Health Regulations for Skin Penetration. The cosmetic tattoo machine is safe and designed to use with disposable parts. Anything that comes into contact with you will be brand new, sealed prior to your treatment are be disposable. Allergic reactions to the pigments are very rare. The pigments brands used are trusted, long-established USA made brands that have been on the market for decades. The pigments contain iron oxide that is already present in the human body, so highly unlikely to cause a reaction.

We recommend to do a Patch Test prior to the treatment if you are concerned and highly sensitive and prone to allergies.

Can the cosmetic tattoo be removed if I change my mind?

Most cosmetic tattoos can be removed with specific laser treatments, but it can be quite difficult and many treatments are usually needed. As a result, we suggest thinking of eyebrow tattoos as permanent. If you’re not sure whether it’s something you’d want in a few years, we suggest taking some more time to think about it until you are certain you want it. If you definitely want to do it but you’re unsure of what style or look you’d like, we recommend going with something less dramatic and lighter. For example, a thin top liner, or lighter brown hair stroke brows. Keep in mind, it’s a lot easier to retouch a treatment and make it thicker or darker but impossible to do the opposite. You can always go darker or more dramatic at your adjustment appointment!

Can I have Cosmetic Tattoo done if I’m pregnant/breastfeeding?

We don’t recommend it because the treatment involves anaesthetic and you’ll to be laying flat for an extended period which could be uncomfortable for you. We may be able to go ahead with it if you present written medical clearance though.

What colours/pigments are available for me to choose from?

We have a big range of different pigments for you to choose. We often customise the colour by mixing multiple pigments together to create the shade you’re looking for and suits your skin/hair tone. During the initial consultation, we’ll go through the different colour options together.
